Are you looking for Valentine's breakfast ideas for kids? Well, look no further, because I've gathered some of my favorite Valentine's Day breakfast ideas from my fellow food bloggers, and you are going to love them.
Valentine's Day isn't just for grown-ups; it's a perfect way to celebrate love with the entire family! And what better way to start the day than with a heartwarming breakfast that will put smiles on your kiddos' faces?
That said, Valentine's Day falls in the middle of the week this year, and since mornings are already hectic in our house, this first recipe is a no-recipe recipe. (I just love those!) Make silver dollar-size pancakes with your favorite mix or heat up some frozen mini pancakes in the microwave. Use a food pen and some heart-shaped sprinkles, and voila! Emoji pancakes. These could not be easier!
But we're just getting started! Check out these kid-friendly Valentine's Day treats, from savory to sweet from some of my favorite blogger pals. I've included a round-up of cute Valentine's Day breakfast ideas that may be short on time but aren't short on thoughtfulness.
Homemade Strawberry Pop Tarts by Quiet Baking Day
First up is a nostalgic favorite: Pop Tarts. I grew up on these little toaster pastries, and this recipe from my friend Theresa is leaps and bounds better than the boxed version I am used to. Now, I will say that you may want to make these on the weekend and then follow the freezing instructions. This recipe has a homemade cream cheese crust and homemade strawberry jam filling that are Ah-mazing. And, it's a great recipe to get the kids involved with--a great excuse to get them in the kitchen for a fun family activity.
Tasty tip
If you want to take a shortcut, try store-bought puff pastry instead of homemade and/or jarred strawberry jam instead of making it from scratch.
I mean, aren't these the cutest! And you can't forget the sprinkles on top. You can also experiment with other fruit flavors besides fresh strawberries. Blueberries and raspberries would be great options to try.
Strawberry Rolls by Beyond the Chicken Coop
Oh man, do I love a sweet roll--cinnamon rolls, orange rolls, lemon rolls, you name it. And these from my friend Kathy are just so special. Now, like the pop tart recipe above, this recipe is a little more involved. But let me tell you--it's so worth it. This is another recipe that you can make on the weekend and then freeze until you're ready to bake.
First, you make a sweet yeast dough and then after it's risen, you spread strawberry jam and chopped fresh strawberries on top. Roll it up, give it a slice, and they're ready to be placed in the pan for a second rise before baking. (After this rise is when I'd freeze them.)
Aren't these just so dreamy! I can smell and taste the strawberries now. The dough is also super versatile--try other fruit combinations or spread it with softened butter and cinnamon-sugar for traditional cinnamon rolls.
Cake Batter Red Velvet Pancakes with Cream Cheese Syrup by Gimme Delicious
What a way to kick off the day with a stack of these fluffy red velvet pancakes. These vibrant pancakes are high on the list of mom hacks, using red velvet cake mix as the pancake batter. A simple cream cheese glaze is the perfect topping but you can also serve these with maple syrup if you prefer.
Tasty tip
Make these heart-shaped pancakes for an even more special treat. Use a (metal) heart cookie cutter to shape the pancakes or pour the batter into a squeeze bottle and make a fun heart-shaped pancake directly on the griddle. Or, make red velvet waffles instead by pouring the batter into a hot waffle iron.
You can also make a pancake board with toppings for everyone to create their own masterpiece. In addition to maple syrup and the cream cheese glaze, set out whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate sauce, chocolate chips, and your favorite fresh fruit and let everyone's imaginations run wild.
Valentine’s Day Cupid Arrow Pancake Kabobs by This Ole Mom
Speaking of heart-shaped pancakes, how cute are these cupid arrows?! I love these because you can take them on-the-go, and you get some fresh fruit in there to help balance out the sugar your child will likely consume that day. This recipe does have a from-scratch version of pancake batter, but a boxed mix will work great too.
You can also add a little food coloring to the batter to make pink, purple, or any other color heart-shaped pancakes you like. I've also added sprinkles to the batter before to make confetti pancakes. There are so many ways to change up this recipe!
Valentine Pancake Owls by Hello Yummy
This recipe is for you creative folks. I mean, just look at these little owls. Some googly eyes, heart sprinkles, and apples cut into shapes are all you need to add to mini pancakes to make THE cutest little Valentine's owls. This one is especially great for younger kids--an excuse to play with your food!
If little hands are involved with this recipe, I recommend setting up a sheet pan filled with the fruit pieces, googly eyes, and sprinkles in separate bowls. That way everything will stay contained in case you have a spill.
Raspberry Cheesecake Stuffed Brioche French Toast by Spoonful of Flavor
You get a lot of bang for your buck with this stuffed French toast recipe. And, cheesecake for breakfast? I'm sold! All you do is cut slits into each piece of bread and fill them with a mixture of sweetened cream cheese and raspberry preserves.
Then you dip the bread in an egg custard mixture and cook in a skillet until golden brown on both sides. Dust with powdered sugar and top with fresh raspberries and you've got yourself a very impressive Valentine's Day breakfast.
Want to take it one step further? Cut the bread into heart shapes for heart French toast.
Valentine’s Day Waffles by Fat Girl Hedonist
Valentine's Day morning is sure to be special when you serve this crowd-pleasing recipe! Fire up the waffle maker and whip up a batch of pink waffles that are sure to steal your kids' hearts. Top them with a drizzle of chocolate sauce, a generous dollop of whipped cream, and a sprinkling of raspberries and Valentine's red and pink sprinkles. You can also serve them with a side of crispy bacon or sausage for a savory twist.
This recipe is for homemade waffle batter but feel free to use waffle mix instead. There are also make-ahead freezer instructions, so if you're a meal prepper, this is a great candidate for that!
Have a Heart Toasts by Sara Lee Bread
This is my favorite no-fuss fun way to transform ordinary toast into a festive treat by topping slices of bread with different flavors. Spread some pieces of toast with raspberry jam and sprinkle with coconut flakes. On others, spread with Nutella and top with heart-shaped banana pieces. Finally, spread strawberry cream cheese on other pieces of toast. Cut fresh strawberries in a heart shape and skewer with a toothpick to resemble Cupid's arrow.
Another fun way to change up this recipe is to use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut the bread and then spread with your favorite toppings. Peanut butter is another great spread option.
Sunny Side Up Egg-Heart Toasts by Chef de Home
For this recipe, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut a hole in the center of a slice of bread. Butter both sides of the bread and place it in a hot skillet. Crack an egg into the hole and cook until the egg is set and the bread is golden brown. Serve it with a side of fresh fruit or avocado slices for a hearty and wholesome breakfast that everyone will love.
This is also a great recipe for any holiday. Use a pumpkin cookie cutter for Halloween and a tree cookie cutter for Christmas.
Loaded Egg Muffins by Skinny Taste
This is an easy recipe that is a great way to sneak in veggies and to customize depending on what everyone likes. I'm also a fan of savory breakfasts, so I really love this recipe. This version has bacon, cheese, hashbrowns, and veggies but you can add or take away whatever you like. That's a bonus for picky eaters.
Even better, these are a great make-ahead option, AND they're perfect for grab-and-go when we're trying to rush out the door and get to school on time.
Strawberry Breakfast Parfaits by Spend with Pennies
If you're looking for a healthier option, then this is a great one. Greek yogurt is layered with granola and strawberries in individual parfait glasses to create a festive breakfast parfait. For an added Valentine's Day twist, strawberry hearts are the garnish on top.
If you're kiddos aren't big on granola, try another cereal instead. Or, chop up pancakes or muffins to use as the layers.

Frequently asked questions
Eggs, French toast, pancakes, waffles, and cereal are all kid-approved recipes. Yes, a lot of these recipes are "treat" recipes that I save for special occasions since they're higher in sugar, but everything in moderation, right?
I found that having options is a good way for picky eaters to be more likely to eat what's in front of them. That and dips. And, I always found that if my son helped me make a recipe he was much more likely to eat it too.
I love to make sure my son has some sort of protein to start off his day. Whether that's milk for cereal, yogurt, or scrambled eggs, a higher protein, lower sugar breakfast is a great way to start the day.
Good news! Most of these recipes have make-ahead options.
