Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of kosher salt

Instructions

  • Combine the butter, heavy cream, and chocolate chips in a medium saucepan. Place over low heat and cook until smooth and creamy, whisking constantly.
  • Remove from the pan from the heat and transfer the mixture into a large bowl. Whisk or beat in the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt.
  • Let the frosting stand until thickened, stirring occasionally. Or, refrigerate for about 20 minutes until spreadable.
