  • slotted spoon
  • whisk
  • medium bowl

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 small Vidalia or yellow onion, diced
  • ½ cup honey bbq sauce
  • ½ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 (15.5-ounce) cans navy beans, drained and rinsed

Instructions

  • Add the onion to the drippings and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Whisk together the bbq sauce, brown sugar, tomato paste, Worcestershire, vinegar, cornstarch, mustard, salt, pepper, and 1 cup water in a medium bowl.
  • Add the beans, sauce, and bacon to the onion. Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes or until the beans are bubbly and the sauce is thickened.
