Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Remove the bacon from the pan to paper towels, reserving the drippings in the skillet.
Add the onion to the drippings in the skillet and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
Add the green beans and the broth. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Bring the mixture to a boil. Cover, reduce the heat to medium-low, and simmer until the beans are tender, about 10 minutes.
Transfer the bacon to a serving platter, if desired. Crumble the bacon and sprinkle on top of the green beans.
